The Science of Agriculture brought together more than 115 attendees from academia, industry, and government for an engaging event focused on how federally funded university research drives agricultural innovation and supports the food and farming systems that sustain our nation.
The event featured insights from several distinguished guests, including U.S. Department of Agriculture Deputy Under Secretary of Research, Education, and Economics Dr. Lauren Stump, House Committee on Agriculture Chairman Rep. Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-PA-15), Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Conservation, Research, and Biotechnology Rep. Jim Baird (R-IN-04), Rep. Jim Costa (D-CA-21), and Rep. Tracey Mann (R-KS-01). The event also welcomed appearances by Rep. Young Kim (R-CA-40) and Rep. Herb Conaway (D-NJ-03).
Five TSC member institutions from across the country showcased cutting-edge research – backed by the federal government – that develops more resilient crops and healthier livestock. The event underscored how universities provide fertile ground for the agricultural innovations that help the United States lead the world in food production, livestock management, and high-yield harvesting, delivering significant economic returns and health benefits to communities across the country.
