Representative Pete Visclosky (D-IN) was honored November 2nd by The Science Coalition, becoming the 62nd recipient of their prestigious “Champion of Science” award. The award was presented to the Congressman for his continued support of federal funding for basic science research.
Purdue University President Martin C. Jischke, along with Pat Bankston, Assistant Dean and Director of Indiana University School of Medicine – Northwest, were on hand at the Purdue Tech Center to present the Congressman with the award on behalf of The Science Coalition.
“This is a fitting location to honor Peter Visclosky because he was responsible for securing the $6.9 million in federal funding to build this state-of-the-art, high tech business incubator,” Jischke said. “His work on the northwest Indiana commuter grid is further testament to his dedication to honor American innovation and discovery and keep it right here in Indiana.”
Three Indiana institutions of higher learning are members of The Science Coalition – Purdue University, Indiana University and University of Notre Dame.
