WASHINGTON – The Science Coalition (TSC) issued the following statement after the House Committee on Appropriations approved a minibus appropriations package for Fiscal Year (FY) 2023, which includes funding for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Department of Energy (DOE), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA):

“We are pleased to see the House of Representatives begin their appropriations and prioritize robust increases for fundamental research supported by our federal research agencies,” said TSC President Peter DeYoe. “The National Institute of Food and Agriculture at USDA, the Office of Science at DOE, and EPA Science and Technology rely on such sustained investment to deliver on cutting-edge fundamental research that feeds our nation, mitigates the climate crisis, and prepares us for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow. The passage of the first FY23 appropriations minibus, which builds on positive results for research agency budgets finalized in FY22, is a step toward providing predictability for our researchers, and we urge the Senate to follow suit without delay.”
