The Science Coalition Welcomes Dr. Jill Pentimonti as President for 30th Anniversary Year

Coalition recommits dedication to advancing federally funded research at the higher education level for the enhancement of America’s scientific standing globally.

 

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, The Science Coalition (TSC) announced new leadership as Dr. Jill Pentimonti, Ph.D. assumes the role of President as the organization marks the start of its 30th anniversary year. With over two decades of experience in higher education settings and an extensive background in federally funded research, Dr. Pentimonti brings unparalleled expertise to the forefront in her role. In addition to serving as TSC’s President, she currently represents the University of Notre Dame as its Executive Director of Research Advancement.

“As our nation navigates continued global competition, reliable and robust funding for fundamental scientific research is not just an option but a necessity. It is imperative for Congress to advance a long-term plan that prioritizes impactful investments in basic research conducted at universities, as a means to keeping America at the forefront of scientific innovation,” said TSC President Dr. Jill Pentimonti.

Established in 1994, TSC, a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization, unites over 50 of the nation’s leading public and private research universities. Its mission revolves around sustaining the federal government’s investment in fundamental scientific research to stimulate the economy, foster innovation, and drive American competitiveness.

Dr. Pentimonti, through her leadership at the University of Notre Dame, has demonstrated a commitment to strengthening the impact and reach of federal research agencies. Her role also includes managing her own diverse research portfolio, pursuing new funding opportunities, and contributing as an Affiliate of the Institute for Educational Initiatives. She has expertise in quantitative methods and data analysis, with a focus on examinations of applied issues in early cognitive development.
