WASHINGTON – The Science Coalition (TSC) released the following statement in response to President Biden’s fiscal year (FY) 2022 discretionary request:

“Federally funded university research is sparking economic growth across the country but recovering from delays and disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic will take time,” said TSC President John Latini. “That is why we are pleased President Biden’s budget blueprint prioritizes America’s science enterprise by requesting historic increases for key federal research agencies. Federal investments at these levels would ensure America’s 560,000 strong research workforce – especially those researchers disproportionately impacted by the pandemic, such as women and minorities – can continue to spur innovation, push the boundaries of technology, and keep the United States a global scientific and technological leader. We look forward to reviewing the full budget request in the weeks ahead and working with the Biden-Harris Administration and Congress to ensure robust and sustained investment in fundamental research.”
