Dr. Sethuraman “Panch” Panchanathan will lead the agency as its 15th Director

WASHINGTON – The Science Coalition (TSC) released a statement after Dr. Sethuraman Panchanathan was sworn-in as the 15th Director of the National Science Foundation (NSF):

“Dr. Panchanathan has a sharp eye for the future of fundamental science research, and with his background in technology and innovation, he will be a strong advocate for advancements that keep the United States at the forefront of scientific achievement.

“His tenure at NSF comes during a pivotal moment for science research and the economy. As a longtime university faculty member and a member of the National Science Board, he understands the importance of the strategic partnerships between America’s research institutions and federal research agencies in growing our economy, cultivating a robust STEM workforce, and keeping Americans healthy. As the only agency dedicated solely to advancing fundamental science research, Dr. Panchanathan’s leadership will lay the foundation for future discoveries across disciplines in the years to come. We thank Dr. France Córdova for her service over the last six years and look forward to working with Dr. Panchanathan.”
