WASHINGTON – The Science Coalition (TSC) released the following statement in response to this week’s Senate and House votes to approve the conference agreement for the FY 2019 Energy and Water Development, Legislative Branch, and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act:

“The Science Coalition commends Congress for voting to increase federal appropriations that direct fundamental research, particularly for the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Science. The conference agreement seals a deal for fiscal year 2019 funding that boosts our nation’s research investment through the DOE Office of Science and continues a recent trend of strong federal support for fundamental science in areas with wide-ranging applications for energy and beyond. Research programs like those through the Office of Science are critical for our country to remain a leader in energy innovation and to promote economic growth. We applaud Congress on their continued federal investment in science and look forward to seeing similar funding trends for other federal research agencies.”
