The Science Coalition Comments on the State of the Union Address

Amanda Arnold, 2015 president of The Science Coalition, made the following statement following President Barack Obama’s 2015 State of the Union address:

The Science Coalition fully agrees that “21st century businesses will rely on American science, technology, research and development.” Federally funded basic scientific research has driven much of America’s economic growth since World War II, creating new technologies, new companies and entire new industries, along with countless jobs.  It also has improved the quality of life for all Americans and helped build a highly skilled workforce.  The question now is whether the United States will make the investments necessary to support a robust research enterprise well into the 21st century.
