The Science Coalition Statement on President Biden’s FY25 Proposed Budget

WASHINGTON, D.C.The Science Coalition (TSC) released the following statement in response to President Biden’s fiscal year (FY) 2025 discretionary request:

“Keeping our nation’s scientific research at the leading edge of global competition through federal support is crucial,” said TSC President Dr. Jill Pentimonti. “With other countries bolstering their research expenditures, it’s imperative for the United States to maintain its momentum. President Biden’s budget proposal underscores this urgency by prioritizing substantial and consistent funding for pivotal research initiatives.

“Sustained investment in research, supported by bipartisan efforts such as the CHIPS and Science Act, yields long-term benefits—from fortifying supply chains to cultivating a diverse workforce and generating employment opportunities. While it is encouraging to see increases in some programs to provide support where possible, consistent and robust growth are still needed across the board. We remain dedicated to ensuring that the final appropriations for FY25 fully reflect this vital commitment to science.”
